LONG-CHAPTERED FICS
CHALLENGE THREE
What if underneath it all, Syd is really insecure about her looks?
She's always been good at putting on an act though, so no one would ever
think that. What if she got really sick (i.e. cancer)? She has to have
therapy and loses her hair (which to her way of thinking is her greatest
asset). Sky is great to her, and through it all they fall in love. So
when she loses her hair, he goes and shaves his off. Says he won't grow it
back till she does. What's her reaction? What's the other's reaction?
Based loosely on the song Skin by Rascal Flatts (lyrics here) If you've never heard this one, I recommend listening to it at least once, even if you're NOT a country music fan.
CHALLENGE FIVE
Based on certain paragraphs from Kim's fic (More Than a Crush), which was based on a challenge I gave her (lol).
Here's the
lines:
- Damn the
Red suit. Damn the job it now demanded he perform. Damn the fact that she
wanted him and couldn’t have him. Fraternizing with fellow teammates was frowned upon, but doing so with a
superior was expressly forbidden. She was B Squad Pink, and when Sky had been B
Squad Blue, he hadn’t technically been her superior. As Red Ranger, he
outranked everyone in the academy except Kat and Cruger.
- “It’s
more hopeless now than it ever was,” she whispered, watching the understanding
drift into his gaze. “No fraternizing with a superior, remember?”
- “It’s
not fair! I hate that you can make me feel this way even though we can’t be
together!”
Syd and Sky are already dating when he's promoted to Red Ranger. Due to the "no
fraternizing" rule, Sky breaks up with her. (You choose if it's done in a
mean manner or not, but I just can't imagine him being deliberately cruel.) How does it affect
them as individuals, as team mates, and the rest of the team as well? How do
they overcome it and end up together (or do they even end up together?
there's nothing wrong with a good angsty story that ends that way too)?
Syd's obviously very heartbroken, but does ultimately understand why they
can't be together. And while there is definitely a strain on the
relationship, she doesn't hate him. Quiet he opposite -she loves him (and he
her.)
